Do you like collecting limited edition records? Pioneer is a vinyl postcard that plays on a regular record deck and appears virtually inside its own augmented reality app. Released as 100 numbered records, they are available from Bandcamp and Discogs from my group Per Diem. The track is 3 minutes 30 seconds and samples music from the same time with vocal elements from artists Keith Haring, William Burroughs, HG Wells, Eric Satie and Elgar’s Nimrod variations, the music is made by our ‘PerDiem’ two-piece band.
It is just £12 plus £2UK shipping, international rates are available from my Discogs marketplace and Bandcamp. In addition it also triggers a 3D version of a Technics 1210 record deck as you hear and see it playing using another special AR experience in a web browser.
This version also plays the entire 3 minute track but is an augmented reality version, a virtual player, appearing on a record deck projected in 3D into any space, you can zoom in and examine the fine details as if it is really there
If you like to support the artist you may order the vinyl postcard record - it will play on a regular record deck as well as floating in front of you on a virtual Technics 1210 record deck using a special code inside the record, viewed using your smartphone.
With a dub aesthetic and inspired by Mark Stewart and the Maffia’s ‘Jerusalem’ from ‘Learning to Cope with Cowardice’ album.
